Umbrella Stand

Provenance

Purchased at Antiques Restoration Studio January 15, 1981, a small store in New York City.

The small walking stick (tucked among three larger canes) was owned by John Ashbery’s great-great uncle Captain Horatio Nelson Throop (1807-1888), who owned a steamship business which operated on Lake Ontario.
